ABOUT THE PROJECT  

Sunville Rail was appointed by Octavius Infrastructure to deliver critical civil engineering works as part of the SID020 High Voltage Feeder Renewals Programme at Liss Station. The project involved the installation of a new high-voltage buried cable route and associated water supply infrastructure to support the ongoing enhancement and resilience of the local rail and utility network. Operating within a busy commercial environment adjacent to the station, Sunville Rail successfully planned and delivered the works with minimal disruption to businesses, road users and stakeholders. Through effective project management, safe working practices and close collaboration with the client, the project was completed to a high standard, on programme and in accordance with all project requirements. 

PROJECT OVERVIEW  

Sunville Rail provided the labour, plant, equipment and specialist expertise required to construct a new six-way duct route through Liss Business Park, located adjacent to Liss Station. In addition to the duct installation, the project included the construction of a new buried water main to provide an improved water supply route serving local businesses within the business park. The scope of works included extensive excavation activities, the installation of Cubis ducting and concrete troughing systems, reinstatement of roads and footways, and the management of all material deliveries and waste removal. The project was delivered using a combination of machine and hand excavation techniques, supported by specialist suction excavation equipment to safely work around existing underground services

Key activities undertaken by Sunville Rail included: 

• Installation of six-way Cubis ducting and flexible duct routes 

• Construction of a new buried water pipe network 

• Machine and hand excavation works throughout the route

• Concrete, Type 1 and tarmac reinstatement works 

• Installation of concrete troughing systems 

• Supply and management of specialist plant, labour and materials 

• Safe excavation using suction excavation techniques 

• Removal and environmentally responsible disposal of inert waste 

• Detailed planning, progress monitoring and client reporting 

• Final road and surface reinstatement work
