Project Overview

PROJECT OVERVIEW

There are several instances across the DLR network where Cable Route Management Systems (CRMS) are either in a state of degradation/disrepair, have reached maximum capacity, or do not exist at all. The cables are safety critical to the running of the DLR System and hence require adequate protection. This includes HV, comms and signalling cabling carrying safety critical traffic.

As part of the ongoing cable route refurbishment project, Sunville Rail undertook the civils element of this project providing a wide range of works both track side and in confined space tunnel environments.

Scope of works included;

•Cut and break out 22 concrete channels for negative debonding cables to be installed using battery powered only plant in tunnels along DLR line.

•Installation of 14000m of DC power cables

•Drill and Cemfix 790 CRMS U brackets along route

•Drill and Cemfix 220 CRMS J Hangers

•103 CRMS S Hangers

•Installation of associated Unistrut.

•Install 80m concrete cable troughing route

•Carry out associated pull testing and provide results on install.

•Install 390m of GRP cable ladder racking.

•Vegetation clearance.

•Dressing cables onto brackets.

•Remove waste from site and environmentally dispose of.
